With electrical power out for about 6 to 8 days most of my neighbors had no power for their wells which meant no water to flush toilets, no drinking water or showers. No water to cook etc. No heat because most new homes are dependent on electrical power to run the heater fan motors. Only the few people that had a gas or wood burning fireplace could stay in their homes because of the extreme cold -8 F. Most of our neighbors had to leave their homes and stay with friends, family or in Motels, outside our area. I am glad to say because my wife and 2 daughters and myself are Ham Radio operators and believe and practice being prepared. Our whole house 20Kw Natural Gas / LP Gas fueled Generator allow us to remain at Home. We remained warm and safe thru the entire 7 day ordeal. We were able to help some of our neighbors by charging their cellphones, flashlights and cooking hot meals. We had a few staying with us. Lessons learned: in an emergency you have to have a way to stay warm in cold climates and cool in warm areas. You need to have lighting and a method to get water. In a grid down condition you need to be able to generate power that requires no fuels. Solar or wind power come to mind. We are working on installing a medium size solar system as a backup system. The time to prepare is now while you can. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4709268009452512912.post-839576891265363402015-10-05T10:58:46.772-06:002015-10-05T10:58:46.772-06:00Have you read the reviews on Amazon for the power ...Have you read the reviews on Amazon for the power source 1800, NOT GOOD!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
