They will know more then you but probably not tell you the truth. It is likely they will tell you to stay put not for your safety but to make their job easier. In the event of a nuclear war there will be no good information, none, zip, nada. You will be on your own. Regarding law enforcement; avoid them like the plague, they will be the zombies you read about. They won't intentionally go rogue they will be placed in the impossibe position of bring order out of chaos and that will mean forcing everyone in their sphere of influence to do what the lying government wants done. Avoid the police or the national guard especiually in the first hours to days of a nuclear attack. They will want to "herd" everyone into "camps" where you will die. Remember there are no fallout shelters for the masses, there is no place for them to take you that wikeep you safe. Maybe a deep basement or a subway tunnel but then what there won't be food or water. If you fall into the hands of the police or government you will be forced into a situation where you will die eventually from the radioactivity or lack of food or water or die quickly as you try to force them to let you go. So while the government might "know something" they won't be telling you and they won't have your interest in mind. In fact think how much easier their job will be in the long run if there are a few million or so less survivors.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4709268009452512912.post-4896471384623511342012-04-05T07:38:21.079-06:002012-04-05T07:38:21.079-06:00Very good article. One of the problems with this ...Very good article. One of the problems with this issue is the enormous difference between a single small (10 kiloton) nuke and nuclear war which will at a minimum involve 2000-4000 nukes up to 25 megaton. If the event is nuclear war the fallout will be so heavy and radioactive that even 15 minutes in the open will ensure your death. Death will take a few days but it will be inevitable and not a pretty sight. The radioactivity dissapates over days and weeks to a point where it could take a couple of hours of exposure to ensure your inevitable death. You can expect to have to stay underground in a fallout shelter for at least 49 days before the radioactivity will drop to the level where you could go outside for an hour or two every other day or so. It would be months before you could go outside for hours everyday without absorbing enough radiation to cause your death in a relatively short time (weeks to months). Forget the stats that say 50% chance of death or %20 chance of death because in the early weeks after a nuclear exchange the odds are 100% chance of death if you don't have a fallout shelter with enouhj food and water so that you can stay below ground for months and even after that stay below ground for 20 hours out of every 24. In other words without a fully stocked adequate fallout shelter you will die and it will be within days to weeks. Those stats on probability of death are for the survivors who make it past the first months and years it it refers to the odds over a lifetime.

Regarding a small nuke, everything is different. The best advice is get the hell out of there. If you aren't at ground zero or immediately affected by the blast then get the hell out of there if it is possible. The only exception is if there is not fast safe way to evacuate AND you have a fallout shelter then you would be better off in the shelter.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
